Prof. Francis Kibera (Team Leader)

Executive Director

Professor Francis N. Kibera has over 30 years of experience in research and consultancy in areas of strategic planning, corporate governance, customer care, institutional development and capacity building. His experience in management consultancy includes strategic planning and capacity building with organizations such as the University of Nairobi, Presbyterian University of East Africa, Africa Nazarene University, Narok University College. Other clients have included REAL Insurance, Kenya Utalii College, Capital Markets Authority, Ministry of Tourism, Directorate of Personnel Management (DPM), UNES Ltd, Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB), Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA), Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA), Kenya Education Staff Institute (KESI), Kenya Institute of Education (KIE), Kenya Roads Board, Cooperative Bank Ltd, Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi, Wananchi Online, Board of Adult Education, Kenya Tourist Board, Federation of Kenya Employers, National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya, Consolidated Bank of Kenya, Nation Media Group and Government Training Institutes (GTIs).


He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Business Administration from University of Toronto, Ontario, and a Master of Business Administration from University of Alberta, Canada. He did his Bachelor of Commerce degree programme at the University of East Africa (University College, Nairobi).


Professor Kibera has a vast regional experience having handled management consultancy assignments in Botswana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Namibia. He has also studied problems and opportunities of transferring western management know-how to Kenya; challenges and prospects of female entrepreneurship in small-scale enterprises in Kenya; and institutional capacity of Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Railways Corporation, and the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

Prof. Lucy Kibera

Training & Education Director

Professor Lucy W. Kibera holds a Ph.D and a Master of Education from Kenyatta University, a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy), and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), York University, Toronto Canada; and a Bachelor of Education from Makerere University, Uganda. Professor Lucy Kibera has a rich professional background having started as a Tutor in Primary Teachers Training College then Research Fellow at Kenya Institute of Education, Senior Lecturer at Kenya Technical Teachers College to her position as Associate Professor in Sociology of Education, former Chairman of Educational Foundations and immediate former Dean School of Education, University of Nairobi.


Since Professor Kibera’s graduation with Bachelor of Education from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda over 36 years ago, she has acquired extensive and practical experience in training teachers, consultancy and research in education. Some of her published papers include: Vocationalising Kenya’s Secondary Education: Career Aspirations of Boys and Girls; Literary and Post Literary Print and Visual Materials with a Gender Perspective; Female characterization in Contemporary school Text Books and Fictions; Gender and Politics in Kenya; Effects of School Stratification on the Career and Educational Aspirations of Girls in Kenya’s Secondary Schools; Gender and occupational prestige in Kenya; Child Labour in Kenya: Girl Child Perspectives; Challenges and prospects of Female Entrepreneurship in small Scale Enterprises in Kenya; factor militating against educational advancement of girls; Sexuality, Health and Reproductive Rights of Women; Women and Education in Kenya; and Teacher Education and Professionalism: A Kenyan Perspective, and Guidelines for developing a Thesis/Dissertation Research Proposal: Professor Lucy Kibera has also authored four books: Children’s Wisdom Stories; Children’s Riddles, Children’s Home Made Toys by Kenya and Fundamentals of Sociology of Education by the University of Nairobi Press 2007.
